tattoos and a tombola

so, last night i went to see "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" being screened by the Academy of Music. i reckon it must have been one of the few screenings globally to be mostly attended by white-haired grannies and grandpas... and with a raffle half way through.

Crazy fools pay money for those safari waistcoats with a zillion pockets.

Elephants are pretty cool. I am just back from where Queen Victoria fell into a deep waterfall and was not amused. There are some elephants there but they like to hide in the trees. However, you can still hear them chewing tree trunks and so if you’re super stealthy and have a red truck, you can go after them and sometimes espy them.

We did this...In our pyjamas because those sneaky elephants rocked up by our lodge as we were getting ready for bed. In fact, we were so unprepared that izzy had to jump out of the bath and come along wrapped in a blanket. We started looking for them in the dark by the local electric fence, because we like to live life on the edge. When we couldn’t see them and the novelty of potential electrocution had worn off, we jumped all 8 of us in a 5-seater truck - some hanging out of windows in their snowman pyjamas, others getting cosy on each other’s laps – and went on a proper hunt. 20 minutes, a lot of whispering and some uneducated conjecturing later, we saw the most stunning sight. About 8 elephants doing there thing, meandering over the road, ingesting small forests-worth of tree and checking us out from under their long lashes. I have never been fussed about serious safari expeditions, but there is something pretty special about managing to navigate your own way to within a few metres of a wild elephant the size of a small house. Ace.

Falls were nice too.
